Reminder: Review rules before race day. Riders and families are responsible for knowing current procedures and equipment requirements.



General Race Information

  • Riders must show their SVCC membership card or pay the entry fee plus a $5.00 non-member fee per class.
  • Late Signup Fee: $10.00 per rider / per class.
  • Starting Position: Randomly generated by computer after sign-up the day or night of the race. (Pro Class only draws sticks for starting position.)
  • Lineups: Check the lineup sheets on the scoring tower. Riders have 15 minutes after the race order is posted to request additions or corrections.
  • Race coordinator has final decision.

Race Rules — Eligibility

  • Allowed combinations: School Boy Jr. OR Sr./Air Cooled, Air Cooled/Open B, School Boy Sr./Open B, Open A/Pro Lite, Pro Lite/Pro-Am, Pro-Am/Pro, Vet/Pro-Am.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Open A to move up to Pro-Am or Pro.
  • Minimum 1 year experience to run 90 Oval.
  • Must race 75% of the year’s races to qualify for year-end points.
  • Open A and Open B move-up guidance applies.

Race Rules — Sign-Up & Lineups

  • Under 18: parent or guardian must sign forms or bring a notarized waiver for that day or night. Missing forms means no racing. No exceptions.
  • Must be paid before sign-up ends or a $10 late fee per class applies.
  • Heat counts: Oval 5+ entries; TT 9+ entries.
  • TT main lineup: 18 riders total, with 9 on the front line and 9 on the second line.
  • Refunds: before practice 100%; after practice 0%.
  • If you are not at the start when your race begins, you are not allowed on the track.

Starts, Restarts & Track Rules

  • Pole chooses first, then numeral order. No crossing the start line without referee consent.
  • Two-minute rule applies. The stager must be notified on time. Late staging means next available pick.
  • Total restart if 2 or more riders go down in the first lap and do not cross the finish line.
  • Red after lap 2 means staggered restart. Order comes from the last scored lap and down racers go to the back.
  • Jump start means penalty line. A second jump is at the referee’s discretion. Restart positions must be original positions.
  • False start review after the race may result in a lap penalty.
  • Lapped riders must yield safely and may not interfere.
  • Lane and exit rules apply. Position gain can result in a one-lap penalty.
  • Joker lane requirements apply if used for an event.

Flags & Crash Procedures

  • Flags: Green, Yellow, Red, Crossed Green/White (halfway), White, Checkered, Black, Blue/Yellow.
  • Red on the white-flag lap is scored as the final lap and down racers are scored last.
  • Crash plus red light: stop and move inside the track on oval, or to the staging area on TT.

Pits, Safety & Conduct

  • No one may go onto the track until racers are stopped and permission is given. Violation means disqualification.
  • No one may be in or on the score tower without permission.
  • No riding beyond the pit gate or in spectator areas. Violation means penalty line.
  • Minimum class size and lap cut rules apply.
  • Number plates must be visible at all times.
  • Main-start requirement for points and machine-switch rules apply.
  • Insurance, safety gear, helmet requirements, and pit speed rules apply.
  • Keep pit areas clean, keep pets leashed, and parents must supervise children.
  • Rainout and refund rules apply. No glass, no alcohol, no fighting, and no threats. Violations can mean disqualification.
  • Bad check and conduct policies apply and may result in penalties or suspension.
  • The referee or race coordinator has final decision.

Equipment Rules

  • Tethered kill switch required and attached to racer.
  • Nerf bars required, except where official class exceptions are noted.
  • No liquid in tires. Penalties apply.
  • No lights allowed, except mini stock lights may be taped over where permitted.
  • Tech inspections are required.

Points & Protests

SVCC Points System:
1st 25 • 2nd 22 • 3rd 20 • 4th 18 • 5th 16 • 6th 15 • 7th 14 • 8th 13 • 9th 12 • 10th 11 • 11th and below: each place minus 1 point

Protest Tear Down: 2-Stroke $400.00 • 4-Stroke $600.00


  • Protests must be filed within 30 minutes. The referee settles all protests and the protester must be in the same class.
  • $50 goes to SVCC and $50 goes to the SVCC-appointed person.
  • If the machine is legal, the protester loses the money. If illegal, the protested rider loses points and money or trophy, and the protester is refunded minus the $100 inspection fee.
  • The motor owner is responsible. A qualified measurer will be used. Failure to comply means illegal status and forfeited points.
  • AMA or EDT rules may be referenced where SVCC has no written rule.
