While every effort has been made to write the following rules clearly, it is impossible to anticipate every circumstance. It will be the race director’s/referee's responsibility to make decisions regarding rules enforcement.
Race Rule
The Ama Pro Racing rulebook will be referenced for any item not specifically listed.
No fighting (physical assault). Rider is responsible for controlling themselves, their crew members or anyone associated with them in the pit/track area. Automatic disqualification for the event at a minimum.
All riders must asses and ride to their own abilities based on the race course/track.
Rainouts have a 100% refund if not all heats are run. Awards given based on main line up. Points based on heat finish.
To quality for year-end awards, rider must complete in 75% of available class races
Rider(s) under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign all race and release forms. If the parent or legal guardian is not present, the rider(s) must have a notarized waiver release form from the parent or legal guardian for the event that they are competing in that day/night or the rider(s) will not be allowed to race. No Exceptions.
Riders must complete signed up including payment before practice starts or will be charged a $5.00 late fee per class.
Check line-up sheet so you know where to line up and are in the correct class. You have 15 minutes after race order is posted to make additions or corrections.
Two heat races will be run with more than 7 bike riders for the oval track
Two heat races will be run with more than 10 bike riders for the TT track
Bikes will line up 6 on the front line, 6 on the second line. 12 in the oval mains.
Bikes will line up 10 on the front line, 10 on the second line. 20 in the TT mains.
Race line-up (1st racer), designates first position with next rider getting immediate position either inside or outside pick; next position to follow in the same order. No one allowed to cross the starting line.
Two-minute rule applies if a rider has a minor problem at the state line or restart. Must notify stager.
If late to staging, you will be last pick. (WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED)
Scratching 100% refund before practice is run, 0% thereafter.
Total restart if two riders don’t make it past the first lap. Those riders will start on the penalty line.
If the race is red-flagged after one lap, it will be a staggered start. No angled machines are allowed. The order will be taken from the previous lap scored. Down rider(s) will restart in back.
Any rider that is the cause of two red flags in a race will be disqualified.
If a rider jumps the start, they will be placed on the penalty line. If the same rider jumps again, they will be disqualified from the race. All riders must restart in their original positions. No movement allowed on starting line or will be considered a jump.
If a rider leaves the track, they must enter the track in the approximate area with no position advancement.
A lapped or about to be lapped rider will move to the inside or outside (whichever is closer) and let the leader go by them. No interference of race leaders is allowed.
Previous “A” class points winners are encouraged to move up to the Pro Class, any rider who has won 50% or more of the previous year’s races is required to move up to the Pro Class unless under 16 years old. No pro riders in the amateur classes. 50cc riders are ineligible for 50cc 4-stroke classes.
Flags: Green – go; Yellow – do not stop, but use caution; Red – stop; Crossed flags green/white - half way point; White – 1 lap to go; Checkered – finish of the race, move off the track; Black – dis-qualification move off the track as soon as safely possible; Blue/yellow strip – you are being lapped, hold your line.
Red flag on white flag lap will be scored as final lap except down rider(s) will be scored in last position.
If rider(s) are involved in a crash and a red light does come on, stop and move to the hot box. On TT move to starting line.
Absolutely no one, riders or spectators are allowed on the track until all riders are in the hot box and you must have permission from staging gate or head flagger before entering the track. If you enter the track without permission your rider will be disqualified.
No one is allowed in or on the score tower without permission, to include the steps an platform.
No pit riding is allowed (bicycle or motorized) for any other than SVCC officials.
Points stay with the rider, not the machine.
Rider and machine must start the semi/main events for points.
No changing lanes in TT track once in a lane, if caught rider will be docked one lap.
If any one of the above rules is not followed, you may be subjected to one or all of the following: start in the back of the main; loss of money; loss of trophy; loss of points for the event; ejection for the event or rest of season.
Referee has final decision.
All protests should be done within 30 minutes after the race that is being protested. Formal protests must be in writing and presented. Protester must be entered in the same class as the rider whom the protest is being brought against.
Final point standing ties will be split by number of first, second, etc. Place wins.
SVCC does not supply any medical insurance; all riders must carry their own property, medical and any other insurance that the riders deem fit.
Bike: can run open A/sportsman; sportsman/open pro “Must run one year in an Open A class before can ride in pro class”
SVCC General Rules
Helmets must be worn at all times when riding any off road vehicle, ATV’s, motorcycles or any other off road vehicle allowed by Sioux Valley Cycle Club (SVCC) on SVCC property
All riders are responsible for the condition of their off road vehicle (brakes, kill switch, throttle operation, etc.) and for determining safety on the race course/track.
Off road vehicle riding is not allowed in the spectator area. You are confined to the pits. No exceptions.
Non-racers are not allowed to ride any off road vehicles at any time on SVCC grounds.
Pit riding allowed to and from the riders race on race vehicles only. Rider must ride in first gear and go no faster then 5 MPH. No burn outs in the pit area. Failure to follow the rules will result in starting on the back line per offense and pushing their race vehicle. Penalty of 2nd offence results in 25 pts off their highest class.
Participants are required to keep all area clean and free of trash
All pets must be on a leash at all times and must pick up the mess.
Parents must supervise children at all times.
No glass or bottles on SVCC property.
No riding on Motocross track before, during or after the short track events.
No alcohol is allowed in the pit area until after all races are complete.
No vehicles to be driven in the pits once heat races start.
If you owe SVCC for bad checks. You will not be allowed to race until debt is paid in full.
Entry or participation may be refused to any individual who causes or has a history of troublemaking, reckless driving or unsportsmanlike conduct on SVCC grounds. The referee or chairman can exercise this action.
Equipment Rules
The rider must wear the appropriate protective apparel. A helmet, boots, gloves, long sleeved shirt and eye protection is required at all times. Hiking boots and boots with heels are not allowed.
All motorcycles must have a property functioning kill switch.
NUMBER PLATES: contrasting number plates are required on the front and side of all bikes. Number fonts should be legible and have good contrast. Excessive condensing or stretching of the numbers is not allowed. Numbers must not overlap. Stylized numbers are not allowed. All numbers must be solid color with no outlining. Fonts must be clear and legible for easy recognition by fans an timing and scoring staff. IF THE SCORERS CAN’T READ THEM, YOU WILL NOT BE SCORED.
All motorcycles must have a catch can on the radiator overflow.
No water in tires, if water or liquid is found, points will be forfeited and also payoff or trophy for that race.
Flattrack tires only, no knobby or trail tires for any class above 85 including oval and TT, bikes and quads. “except knobby classes”
No lights on bikes or quads
If a machine you start the heat with is unable to start the main event, you may switch machines, but you will start on the penalty line. You must notify the scorekeepers. The machine that starts a race is the same machine that finishes the race or you will be classified as a DNF (did not finish).
No front brakes on all bikes 85 oval class and above.
Riders will be checkered for above equipment rules.

Protest – Tear Down: 2-stroke $400.00 4-stroke $600.00
All protests must be filed with the referee within 30 minutes of the finish of the race to which the protest pertains. The referee will settle all protests.
Person protesting must be in the same class they are protesting.
SVCC will receive $50.00 of protest money and the person appointed by SVCC chairman will receive the $50.00 if the protest.
If person being protested is legal, the person whom put up protest will lose their money.
If person being protested is illegal, the person will lose points and money/trophy for that right. Money will be returned to the protester.
The owner of the motor is responsible for the assembly of the motor. A qualified person will do the measuring.
Failure to comply with the protest – tear down will deem the protested illegal and will forfeit points for next race.
